Community Days grand marshal chosen

CONVOY — The Convoy Community Days Committee has selected Judy Wortman, a children’s educator for 55 years and 4-H advisor for 40 years, to be the grand marshal of the 2015 Convoy Community Days parade this year.

The parade will be held Saturday, September 26, at 2 p.m. in Convoy. Wortman graduated from Columbus South High School, received her bachelor’s degree from Capital University, and a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University. She taught first grade in the Columbus City Schools for two years, second grade for five years in the Van Wert City Schools, kindergarten at Lincolnview Local Schools for five years and 43 years at Crestview Local Schools, with 31 years as a kindergarten teacher.   Wortman has been a 4-H advisor with the Ohio Challengers and Bunny Hoppers. She is also the Administrative Board chairman at North Union United Methodist Church, which she and her family attend.   She was married to the late Harold Wortman and has five children, one deceased. Wortman has 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She has enjoyed helping her children and grandchildren in raising rabbits, hogs, calves and sheep.

The parade line-up will begin at 1 p.m. at Crestview Local Schools and travel west on East Tully Street and north on Main Street to Edgewood Park. Bring a chair and park it along the parade route, showing many thanks to Wortman and her family for her many years of service to the Convoy community.
