Samuel D. Brown

Samuel D. “Sam” Brown, 71, of Van Wert, died at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born December 9, 1943, in Neosho, Missouri, the son of William S. and E. Gladys Brown, who both preceded him in death.

Survivors include five children, Jae (James) McCullough and Shawn (Jon) Barrett, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Patti Brown of Rick Springs, Wyoming, Justin (Katie Helmke) Brown and Serena Renner, both of Ohio City; a sister, Margaret “Peg” (Jim) Wiseman of Van Wert; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A brother, Charles H. Brown; and one sister, Martha Baker Chapin, also preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Friday, August 14, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Bud Walls officiating.
