Deanna Kay Gipe

Deanna Kay Gipe, 78, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

She was born July 9, 1937, in Union Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of James Bertrand and Kathryn (Thomas) Dougal, who both preceded her in death. Deanna graduated from Convoy-Union School in Van Wert County in 1955. She graduated from Fort Wayne International Business College in 1956.

Deanna married William Neil Gipe on June 2, 1957, in Van Wert County, and he preceded her in death in January 2007.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Montpelier, where she was the current president of the United Methodist Women. Deanna was past president of the Montpelier Hospital Auxiliary, was a member of the Williams County Fair Foundation, Montpelier Friends of the Library and Loyal Order of Moose in Montpelier.

Deanna and her husband moved to Montpelier in 1969. She worked at Robinair in the office until she retired in 1998.

She is survived by her loved ones, Scot, Linda, Emma and Jack Zenz of Pioneer, and Armeda Sawmiller of Montpelier.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Montpelier, with Pastor Richard Blank officiating.

Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the church and from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, followed by graveside funeral services at 2 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Preferred memorials: Montpelier Area Foundation-Gipe Scholarship Fund or St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Montpelier.
