Cougar golfers lose close match to O-G
Van Wert golf information
The Van Wert Cougar golfers were ousted in windy conditions by the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans Thursday evening at Willow Bend Country Club.
The match came down to the wire and the Cougars came up short by eight strokes, 192-200. The winds and fast greens caused problems for the Cougar linksters.
Match medalist honors went to Van Wert’s Jared Hernandez, who posted a 41, followed by runner-up medalist Jacob Covey, who fired a 45. Also scoring for the Cougars was Colton Deschner, with a 55, while Carter Eikenbary chipped in with a 59. Nathan Bidlack continued to make big strides as well.
This drops the Cougars to 0-2 in the Western Buckeye League, while O-G is now 1-1. Van Wert returns to action next Monday at Shawnee Country Club to take on the Indians.
