Cougar golfers defeated by Shawnee

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — The Van Wert Cougar golfers traveled to Shawnee Country Club Monday evening to take on the Indians in Western Buckeye League action. The Cougars came out on the short end of the scoreboard by a count of 172-204.

Match medalist honors went to Lima Shawnee’s duo of Ian Hastings and Keaton McKinley, who posted a score of 41.

Van Wert was led in scoring by Jared Hernandez, who tallied a 45. Jacob Covey posted a 50 to go along with Colton Deschner’s 54 and Carter Eikenbary’s 55.  Also participating for the Cougars was Nathan Bidlack.

The Cougars drop to 0-3 in the WBL, while Lima Shawnee improves to 3-0 in the league.

Kenton will visit the Cougars this Thursday at Willow Bend Country Club.
