Cougar golf team loses opener to Bryan

The Van Wert Cougar golf team hosted the Bryan Golden Bears at Willow Bend Country Club on Friday, losing to the Golden Bears 185-207.

Match Medalist honors were shared by the point men from both teams. Cougar Jared Hernandez and Jaret Miller of the Golden Bears each recorded a 40 on the day. Runner-up medalist honors went to Van Wert senior Jacob Covey, who had a 45.

Rounding out the Cougar scoring was Colten Deschner, 55; Carter Eikenbary, 67; and Nathan Bidlack, 74.

The Cougars (0-1) will return to the links on Monday at the Defiance Invitational, which is held at Eagle Rock Golf Course.
