Bryan woman killed in MC-deer accident

BRYAN — The Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred shortly after midnight Sunday on U.S. 6, east of County Road 16, near the city of Bryan in Williams County.
A 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Solomon H. Meade, 37, of Bryan, was westbound on U.S. 6 at 12:19 a.m. Sunday when it was struck by a deer that was crossing the highway. Both Meade and his passenger, Melody A. Bridges, 34, of Bryan, were thrown off the motorcycle by the impact.
A 2003 Freightliner conventional semi tractor-trailer rig, driven by Ricky Valdez Yeager, 60, of Cassopolis, Michigan, was westbound on U.S. 6 at the time and Yeager did not see Bridges, who was lying in the injured in the roadway, and struck and killed her. Meade and Bridges were not wearing helmets during the crash.
The Patrol was assisted by the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williams County Coroner’s Office, Bryan Fire Department and Williams County EMS. The crash remains under investigation.
