Downtown photo shoot

Members of the Van Wert Area Photography Club gathered at the front of the courthouse Thursday, July 9, for a downtown photo shoot.  Rain earlier in the day made it unlikely that the event would take place, but a brief break in the system made it possible. As early comers waited for others to arrive, they took the time to observe the courthouse from positions that they seldom or never were in before.  Since there has been a new paint job on the trim, a number of interesting shots were taken.

Once the group was complete, the photographers scattered in ones and twos or more up and down the street.  Architectural details on store fronts, window displays, and items along the street became prime targets.  The group had just 45 minutes to shoot before the rain began again.

Some of the pictures have been posted on Facebook already and others will no doubt follow.  It will be interesting to see how different people captured the same scene, and what caught only one photographer’s eye when the pictures are compared at the next meeting, which will be Thursday, August 13, at 7 p.m. at 114 S. Race St.
