CONVOY — The Crestview Local Board of Education approved placing a 5-mill, five-year operating levy renewal on the November ballot and also took several personnel actions during its July meeting on Tuesday.

The board accepted the resignation of several staff members. Sarah Brenneman tendered her resignation as intervention specialist after three years with the district, while Melissa Crestview Knights logo 1-2011Basinger resigned as Title I teacher after 18 years with the district. Tess Watson also resigned from her high school social studies teaching position, and her supplemental positions as sophomore class advisor and senior government trip advisor after two years served with the district.

Allison Reindel and Kay Barnes will be assigned to new positions with the district, effective the 2015-2016 school year. Reindel will take the position of elementary intervention specialist, while Barnes will be assigned the position of Title I teacher. Barnes will also be used on an as-needed basis this summer for high school and elementary intervention/education programs.

Superintendent Mike Estes told the board of the improvements around the school to look forward to, including new brighter light bulbs in the gymnasium, more insulation in the band room to help soundproof the room and complete carpet cleaning.

In addition, like the other county school districts, Crestview board members voted to opt out of the middle school career technical education program for the coming year. Estes recommended the action to allow the district more time to come up with a middle school tech education program. The board will work with Vantage Career Center to develop a program for the 2016-2017 school year.

In other news, the board:

  • Approved lunch prices, athletic ticket prices, student workbook fees and subsequent revisions dependent on final billing, and Latchkey fees for the 2015‐2016 school year
  • Approved the Northwest Ohio Area Computer Services Cooperative (NOACSC) Computer Services Agreement,
  • Approved a stipend for special education teachers and paraprofessionals who attend restraint training on August 5 at a rate of $40 per day.

The next meeting of the Crestview Local Board of Education will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 20, in the district boardroom.
