Ruth Evelyn Morris

Ruth Evelyn Morris, 95, of Van Wert, died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2015, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

She was born February 25, 1929, in Woolstock, Iowa, the daughter of Leland L. and Ava Verona (Manning) Morris, who both preceded her in death. She moved with her family from Woolstock to Van Wert as a youth. Two brothers, Daniel and Richard Morris, and a nephew, also preceded her in death.

She graduated from Van Wert High School in 1938 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from The Ohio State University in August 1942.

She worked for Transcontinental World Airlines until 1943 in Arizona. At that time, she returned to Van Wert County and went to work at the Lima Tank Plant. Following the war, Ruth returned to the family farm outside Venedocia to manage it. She remained with her parents as a caregiver until the end of their days.

She was a longtime member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 178 in Van Wert and was a hardline Republican. She was also a longtime member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia.

Ruth is survived by her longtime friends, Jane and Don Jones.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Toledo Memorial Park.

There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements were handled by Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
