Rockford association’s project underway

Rockford Recreation Assoc. information

ROCKFORD — The Rockford Recreation Association is currently collecting plastic caps and lids from common household containers including milk jug caps, detergent caps, hair spray caps, drink bottle caps, deodorant caps, cottage cheese lids, mayonnaise lids, peanut butter lids, cool whip lids, coffee can lids, etc.

A collection goal of 800 pounds of caps and lids has been set so that these collected tops will be recycled into a bench to be placed near the ball diamonds in Shanes Park. Local residents are encouraged to enlist the children in their family to participate in the collection effort and recruit aunts, uncles, and other relatives to assist in this effort.

This is a unique stewardship project targeted to involve kids in the Rockford community and provide them an opportunity to make a difference and be proud of the result when the goal is accomplished and the bench is delivered to the park.

Collected caps and lids can be dropped off at the Shanes Park concession stand during summer baseball and softball games. For more information on this project, call 419.363.3575.
