Lincoln Highway meeting set in Delphos

Lincoln Highway Assoc. information

DELPHOS — The Western Ohio Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association will meet on June 16, 6 p.m. at the Topp Chalet Restaurant and Lounge, 229 W. Fifth St. (Lincoln Highway) in Delphos.

After attendees order dinner individually from the menu, a small business meeting will be held.  At around 7:15 p.m., the group will travel to 327 S. Bredeick St. in Delphos to visit the former home of world-renowned astronomer Leslie Peltier.

Over the course of his life, Peltier discovered 12 comets and two novae and was described as the “world’s greatest non-professional astronomer”. The Astronomical League established The Leslie C. Peltier Award in his honor and annually awards it to an amateur astronomer who contributes to astronomy observations of lasting significance.

Jack and Peggy Adams, current owners of the home Peltier called “Brookhaven,” are in the process of updating and restoring the home to eventually turn it into a bed and breakfast.

The public is invited to attend the meeting. Bring a friend and a Lincoln Highway story to share!
