Students learn about court system

In coordination with National Law Day, the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School visited the Van Wert Municipal Court on Thursday, April 30. Students were able to watch Municipal Court Judge Jill Leatherman, Van Wert City Law Director John Hatcher, and Probation Officer John Wiley, carry out the arraignment process. The students heard the pleas and charges from the defendants. After the arraignments, students were able to have a question and answer session with Judge Leatherman, Hatcher, and Wiley regarding the arraignment process specifically and the court system in general.
