National EMS Week activities planned

VW independent/submitted information

National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the brave men and women who respond to medical emergencies.

Observance of this important week runs May 17-23. This year’s theme is “EMS Strong” and honors the strong drive within everyone who works together as part of the EMS crew — first responders, hospitals, emergency physicians and public health providers who collaborate together to reduce risk and save lives.

Van Wert County Hospital and Van Wert Medical Services are grateful for the dedication of local EMS crews who provide the day-to-day life saving of emergency medicine’s “front line.”

During EMS Week, or any time, area residents see an EMS crew member out in the community, please take a few moments to thank them for their service to the community.

To show gratitude for the EMS crews who serve the area, Van Wert County Hospital will be providing a meal on Tuesday, May 19, for all EMS personnel and also provide free Continuing Education (CE) hours on the topic of pediatric emergencies.

Van Wert Medical Services (VWMS) is a multi-specialty group located in Van Wert. VWMS specializes in family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecological services, as well as general, thoracic, vascular and bariatric surgery.

Van Wert County Hospital serves Van Wert County and adjacent communities as a financially independent nonprofit community health system. Van Wert County Hospital ensures that health care services provided are available to all members of the communities we serve.
