Sandra Jean Simon

Sandra Jean Simon, 78, a longtime resident of Van Wert, died Thursday, April 9, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born April 17, 1936, the daughter of Leonard “Tony” and Jean (Werner) Rosselet, who both preceded her in death. On August 24, 1957, she married Walter T. “Thad” Simon, who also preceded her in death on October 26, 2002.

Survivors include three daughters, Lisa (Tim) Ellert of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Renee (Jesse) Velasquez of Rancho Cucamonga, California, and Jana (Dave) Parsons of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three half-siblings, Anthony “Tony” (Jan) Rosselet of Findlay, Michael Rosselet of Dayton and Cindy (Bill) Beans of Ottawa Hill; many cousins, nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Daphne.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stan Szybka officiating. A private family burial will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens in Defiance.

Calling hours are from 2-6 p.m. Monday, April 20, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with a Rosary service held at 5:30 that evening.

Preferred memorials: Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center or for Masses.
