Milford D. Rayer

Milford D. Rayer, 80, of Van Wert, died at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015, at his residence.

He was born May 24, 1934, in Van Wert, the son of William and Leona (Landis) Rayer, who both preceded him in death. On October 6, 1952, he was united in marriage with Josephine (Barrientos) Rayer, who died May 23, 2012.

Survivors include five children, Christina (Rex) Craig of Va Wert, Randall Dean Rayer of Ohio City, Terrilyn (Dennis) Straw of Ohio City, Brian Rayer of Elida and Jeff (Lori) Rayer of Van Wert; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Two brother and two grandchildren also preceded him in death.

Milford was a retired employee of Chrysler Corporation in Van Wert, a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served in the Korean Conflict, and a life member of American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday, May 2, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with military honors performed by the combined honors units of Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
