Area residents may have unclaimed funds

Van Wert County Treasurer Beverly Fuerst wants to encourage all county residents to take the time and contact the Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Unclaimed Funds.

There was a recent newspaper ad listing only county residents who in the past year had an unclaimed fund amount over $50; however, Van Wert County has a sum of $802,915.27 of unclaimed funds with the Department of Commerce and any county resident could be one of them.

“It is very easy to inquire if you have any monies due you,” Fuerst said. “Just go to http://www.com.ohio.gov/unfd/TreasureHunt.aspx and complete the paperwork online.”

Those who do not have access to a computer can contact the treasurer’s office at 419.238.5177 for a claim form that can be completed and mailed in.
