March madness

By Jordan Roop

Here at Crestview the month of March has been very unique to say the least. With the state PARCC testing the past two weeks that led to Crestview High School students having block scheduling for two straight weeks. The OGT tests this week and the seniors on their Chicago trip earlier this week have led to some crazy schedules.

The first two weeks of March the state testing took place. Senior Nate Owens said, “I feel like the testing is an okay thing to do but there are a lot of flaws in the testing, and I’m not really fond of the block days every day. At first it wasn’t bad, but after a while it gets old and having block days everyday make the days go by slower.”

The sophomores at Crestview have been participating in OGTs this week and will continue with the tests through Friday. The freshmen have OGT prep during the test while the sophomores take the test, and the upperclassmen have two-hour delays. This is a big week for the sophomores because in order to graduate high school they must pass all five sections of OGT testing. Sophomore Braden Van Cleave said, “I am very prepared for the OGTs, the teachers at Crestview have done a very good job preparing us for a couple months with OGT review and practice to help us succeed on the tests.”

Last Monday and Tuesday the seniors took their senior trip to Chicago. There they went to Millennium Park and many other attractions. The trip was a way for the seniors to unite before graduation. Senior Mycah Grandstaff said, “I had a great trip in Chicago because I had a great group and we had a good time on our last class trip before graduation.”

Even when things aren’t on schedule here at Crestview, the students still excel no matter what situation they are put in. The sophomores are finishing the OGTs and the student body is prepared to finish out the school year strong.
