Earnest Alonzo Jewell

Earnest Alonzo “Ernie” Jewell, 58, died at 8:59 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015, at his Paulding residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 5, 1956, in Jamestown, the son of William M. Jewell, who preceded him in death, and Evelyn M. (Mettler) Knuth, who survives. On August 29, 1998, he married Kathy J. (Reed) Parks-Jewell, who also survives.

Other survivors include nine children, Danny (Cindy) Parks of Defiance, Dana (Russel Mansfield) Parks of Defiance, James (Marlene) Jewell of Grover Hill, Devin Jewell of Grover Hill, Brittnay (Adam) Custer of Defiance, Kurtis (John McLendon) Jewell of Ontario, Calvin Ankney of Defiance, Caitlynn Jewell of Defiance, and Carrilyn Jewell of Defiance; five brothers, Sonny (Lorna) Jewell of Grover Hill, Bud (Sol) Jewell of Dallas, Texas, George (Toni) Searfoss of Haviland, and Edward Knuth and Bill Knuth, both of Middle Point; four sisters, Kitty (Tom) Jewell Hawk of Brownsburg, Indiana, Helen Jewell Richardson of Delphos, Jessie (Danny) Searfoss Chesbro of Van Wert and Evelyn (Don) Jewell Mercer of Antwerp; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Three sisters, Darlene Jewell Dawson, Jacquline Jewell and Jilda Searfoss Yoh; two brothers, Robert M. Jewell and Chuck Searfoss; and a granddaughter, Jade Jewell, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Jewell was employed as a master drywall finisher.

Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Chuck Oliver officiating.

Calling hours are from 2-6 p.m. Monday, March 9, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
