Lancers rally to down St. John’s Blue Jays

The Lincolnview Lancer boys’ basketball team had a woozy second quarter, but rallied to overcome a feisty Delphos St. John’s squad 58-53 in a non-conference game played Saturday at Lincolnview.

Both teams were knotted at 15-all at the end of the first quarter, but the Blue Jays were on a 14-6 run in the second period to take an eight-point lead, 29-21, at the half.

The Lancers returned the favor in the third quarter, outscoring St. John’s 19-9 to go up by a basket, 40-38, heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Lincolnview was led by Justis Dowdy’s 25 points, while Trevor Neate added 13 points and Chandler Adams scored 9 points for the Lancers.

The Blue Jays had three players in double figures, led by Evan Hays’ 14 points. Andy Grothouse and Alex Odenweller each scored 13 points for St. John’s.

With the win, the Lancers are now 10-8 overall, while Delphos is 10-6.
