Jack Richard Langdon

Jack Richard Langdon, 84, of Voorhees, New Jersey, and formerly of Van Wert, died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, February 1, 2015, at the Kresson View Care Center in Voorhees.

He was born May 28, 1930, in Muncie, Indiana, the son of Robert and Martha Langdon, who both preceded him in death. He married Bev Langdon, who died April 28, 2012.

American Flag for obituaries 6-2011Survivors include six children, Keith (Lorraine) Langdon of Van Wert, Les (Connie) Langdon of Madisonville, Kentucky, Kevin (Pam) Langdon of Sutherland Springs, Texas, Sandy (Jeff) Gifford of Runnemede, New Jersey, Mitch Langdon of Toledo and Mark (Kimberly) Langdon of Dayton; the mother of his children, Rita Langdon of Van Wert; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A son, K. Scott Langdon, who died December 31, 1995; a sister, Gloria  (Richard) Whitcraft; and a brother, Chuck Langdon, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Langdon graduated from Van Wert High School in 1948 and joined the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict as a member of the crew of the USS Roanoke. During his lifetime, he was employed by the New York Central Railroad, Kennedy Manufacturing Company in Van Wert, Clark Oil, Sims Cab, and, while living in O’Fallon, Missouri, by Grace Gardens Apartments. He was an active member of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

A graveside military service will be held in St. Louis, Missouri, at a later date, and a memorial service in his honor will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at Jennings Road Church of Christ, 1124 Jennings Road in Van Wert.

There will be no visitation at this time.
