Patrol probes Defiance area fatal crash

DEFIANCE — The Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated an accident that occurred Saturday afternoon on Ohio 111, north of Hammersmith Road in Defiance County.

According to troopers, a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Fred Justinger, 78, of Defiance, was northbound on Ohio 111, when the vehicle went out of control, traveled off the east side of the highway and down an embankment, where it struck several trees before coming to a stop.

Justinger, who was using his seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Defiance County Coroner’s Office.

Also assisting at the scene were the Defiance Fire Department and Defiance County Sheriff’s Office.
