Joshua C. Williams, 20, of 235 W. Second St., has been charged with arson, a felony of the fourth degree, in connection with the fire. Because Williams was a juvenile when the fire occurred, the case will be heard in Van Wert County Juvenile Court.

Williams, who was advised of the charge and was processed by police, is currently on house arrest through the Van Wert Municipal Court Probation Department for an unrelated incident.

On September 12, 2010, Van Wert police and firefighters responded to a report of a building on fire at the former Dull Lumber Company property in the 200 block of North Shannon Street. After the fire was extinguished, the Van Wert Fire Department listed the fire as “suspicious”, due to the nature of the fire.

Van Wert police later began an investigation and eventually determined that Williams was involved, leading to the recent charge being filed.
