VWCH All-Star Football Game tonight

The 15th annual Van Wert County Hospital All-Star Football Game will be held this evening at Eggerss Stadium in Van Wert. The gates open at 6:30, with player introductions at 7:20 this evening and the kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

A total of 33 players from the Western Buckeye League will competed against an equal number of players from the Lima area and Northwest Conference. All tickets are $5 at the gate. There is no presale.

Van Wert players participating on the WBL team include wide receiver/safety Michael Smelser, wide receiver Terrance Branson, left tackle/defensive end Jacob Braun and center/tackle Daniel Patterson.

Head coach of the WBL team is Elida’s Jason Carpenter.

Local players on the Lima area/NWC team include the following: Spencerville running back/defensive back Colton Miller, Wayne Trace receive/safety Jared Sherry, Delphos Jefferson receiver Tyler Mox, Delphos St. John’s running back/outside linebacker Luke MacLennan, Wayne Trace quarterback Colby Speice, Crestview tight end/defensive back Dylan Henry, Spencerville tight end/defensive end Tyler Core, Wayne Trace wide receiver/cornerback Korbin Showalter, Spencerville running back Anthony Schuh, Antwerp fullback/linebacker Tyler Messman, Spencerville guard/defensive end Lucas Perkins, Crestview guard/defensive end Scott Miller, Delphos Jefferson guard/defensive end Isaac Illig, Crestview linebacker Zen Burdette, Delphos St. John’s left tackle/defensive tackle Spencer Ginter, Delphos St. John’s center/defensive tackle Ryan Shumaker, Paulding guard/defensive end Ryan Schindler and Delphos Jefferson running back/safety Zavier Buzard.

The NWC/Lima area team is coached by Crestview’s Jared Owens and his staff.
