C’view honors retiring staff members

CONVOY — The Crestview Local Board of Education honored two retiring staff members and also welcomed a new teacher to the district during its May meeting held Monday.

The board and Superintendent Mike Estes presented plaques to teacher Connie Moser and cafeteria worker Joy Schaadt, who are both retiring after a number of years with the district. The board also had the opportunity to meet Nicole Buchholz, who was given a one-year limited contract to teach high school science during Monday’s meeting.

Two other science teachers were reassigned. Jared Owens will be a middle school science teacher, while Shay Sheets was reassigned to the position of elementary science teacher, both beginning the 2014-2015 school year.

A number of supplemental contracts were also approved during the board’s May meeting. They include the following:

Greg Rickard and Owen Pugh will each spend half the school year as athletic director and half the school year as assistant athletic director; Joshua Thomas, band; Jeremy Best, head boys’ basketball coach; Mark Gregory, varsity boys’ basketball assistant coach; Dave Bowen, junior varsity boys’ basketball coach; Mike Myers, freshman boys’ basketball coach; Frank Minnig, eighth grade boys’ basketball coach; Dan Miller, seventh grade boys’ basketball coach; Best, Mini Knights boys’ basketball coach; Erin Holden, cheer competition and varsity basketball cheerleading coach; Brittany Helt, middle school basketball and football cheerleading coach; Lindsay Ebbeskotte, high school football cheerleading coach.

Also, Danille Hancock, chorus director; Jill Carpenter, Jeff Bagley, Melissa Eickholt, Christine Albright and Zach Rosenbeck, junior class advisors; Mike Bowen, Paul Pohlman, Steve Sealscott, Michelle Brinkman, Ben Kaufman and Allison Reindel, sophomore class advisors; Jeff Bagley, head cross country coach; Randy Grandstaff, cross country assistant coach; Ali Sawmiller, FCCLA advisor; Jared Owens, head football coach; Jon Van Cleave, James Lautzenheiser, Steve Sealscott,  Ben Kaufman and Corbin Vance, junior varsity football coaches and freshman football coaches; Chris Roop, Tom Riggenbach, Travis Cunningham and Zach Rosenbeck, middle school football coaches; Greg Rickard, girls’ head basketball coach Mini Lady Knights coach; Trent Kreischer, girls’ varsity basketball assistant coach; Diane Wilson, junior varsity girls’ basketball coach; Becky Macki, eighth grade girls’ basketball coach; Melissa Eickholt, seventh grade girls’ basketball coach.

Also, Kyle Watson, girls’ soccer assistant; Jeremy Best, head golf coach; Tess Jeffries, government class trip advisor; Hancock, school musical director; Doug Grooms, school musical assistant director; Deanna Ray, National Honor Society advisor; Kristie McCormick and Ali Sawmiller, prom/class advisor; Keith Rydell, public relations; Sandy Grooms, high school and middle school Scholastic Bowl advisor; Judy Wortman, Student Council advisor; Tammy Gregory, volleyball head coach; Kristy Bagley, varsity volleyball assistant coach; Sara Pugh, junior varsity volleyball coach; Hannah Phlipot, eighth grade volleyball coach; Trista Semer, seventh grade volleyball coach; James Lautzenheiser, eighth grade Washington, D.C., trip advisor; and Kristie McCormick, yearbook advisor.

Meghan Henry was also approved as a volunteer girls’ basketball coach for the upcoming school year.

In other news, the board:

  • Approved the following overnight trips: girls’ basketball team and Coach Greg Rickard and staff to Ball State University Camp on June 20-22; volleyball team and Coach Tammy Gregory and staff to Maumee Bay Spiketacular July 17-19; soccer team with Coach Short to Camp Palmer in Fayette July 23-24; cross country team and Coach Jeff Bagley and staff to Skyvue Ranch in Millersburg August 4-6; girls’ basketball team and coaching staff to the Classic in the Country Tournament at Berlin Hiland High School January 16-17, 2015.
  • Approved a motion to congratulate FFA participants and advisor Paul Pohlman for their successful trip to the FFA State Convention.
  • Approved the list of graduates, contingent on satisfactory completion of all graduation requirements.
  • Approved a memorandum of understanding regarding permanent teaching certificate holders.
  • Renewed membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association for the 2014-2015 school year.
  • Renewed a contract with Northwest Ohio Education Technology (NWOET).
  • Went into executive session to discuss personnel items, with no action taken following the session.

The Crestview Local Board of Education will next meet in regular session at 6 p.m. Monday, June 16, in the district boardroom.
