Local Democrats elect new officers

Van Wert County’s Democratic Party Central Committee convened on January 21 for the 2014 reorganizational meeting. A slate of officers for the upcoming year was elected:  Al Arnold, chairman; Jason Dettrow, vice chairman; Tara Fox, treasurer; and Jeanne Zeigler, secretary. Connie Hoverman was designated as director of public relations.

Ziegler was also appointed to membership as the Democratic representative to the Van Wert County Board of Elections.

Nancy Dixon announced her candidacy for the office of Van Wert County auditor, a position that she has held for many years. The Central Committee pledged its full support to Dixon’s reelection.

Several elected positions on the Central Committee remain unfilled. Democrats interested in serving as a precinct representative or as an at-large representative should contact Brenda Weaver at the County Elections Board office to attain a nominations petition.

The committee is especially interested in representation from Delphos.
