United Way sets snack bag distribution

VW independent/submitted information

During this national emergency, the United Way of Van Wert County will be providing “grab & go” snack bags once a week for families with children under the age of 18. This week, the snack bags will be distributed Friday, March 27, from 3:30-5 p.m. Locations have been designated for distribution in Van Wert, Convoy, Wren, Willshire, Ohio City, and Middle Point.

United Way is grateful for Van Wert City Schools and Assistant Superintendent Bill Clifton, who helped with coordination and planning; Van Wert Pallet Company; the Boy Scouts; United Way Board members; and community members who helped unload the truck and organize the food.

Thanks also go to Van Wert County EMA Director Rick McCoy, who also provided assistance with logistics, and Vantage Superintendent Rick Turner and the Truck Driving Academy, who hauled the load.

The United Way is accepting monetary donations from those who like to help with the cost of the snack bags. Since the office is closed to walk-in traffic, those wanting to donate can send a check to: The United Way of Van Wert County, 136 E. Main St., Van Wert, OH  45891. Checks should be made payable to “The United Way of Van Wert County”.

Donors should write “snack bags” on the memo line or go to www.unitedwayvanwert.org and click on “Give” to send a payment via PayPal.
