Eddy D. Miller

Eddy D. Miller, 73, of Middle Point, passed away at 9:51 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 20, 1946, in Van Wert County, the son of Karl Miller and Olive (Stemen) Miller Lay, who both preceded him in death. On February 11, 1968, he married the former Lynn Pollock, and together they shared 52 years of memories.

Eddy was a 1964 graduate of Lincolnview High School and a veteran of the United States Army, having served proudly in Germany.

He retired from B.F. Goodrich after 30 years of service. Since 1994, Eddy also co-owned, with his son Scott, Traveling & Recycle Wood Products Inc. in Middle Point.

Eddy was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert. 

Eddy enjoyed spending time at the lake and fishing year round, watching his grandchildren play sports at Lincolnview, and supporting The Ohio State Buckeyes.  He lived his life with a “family first” motto. Eddy was always ready to help friends, neighbors, and those in need.

A brother, Stephen Lay, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn (Pollock) Miller of Middle Point; a son, Scott (Ashley Ainsworth) Miller of Van Wert; one daughter, Riann (Josh) Stetler of Middle Point; six grandchildren, Zane, Camden, Neive, Cabot, and Bellamy Miller and Julia Stetler; a sister, Bonnie (Phillip) McClure; three sisters-in-law, Angela Lay, Jill (Cliff) Tarlton, and Jan Glass; and one brother in law, Steve (Diana) Pollock.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 17, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. William C. Haggis II, officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Visitation is from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, February 16, at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eddy`s memory may be sent to the Middle Point Fire Department.
