All three of Van Wert County’s girls’ basketball teams – Van Wert, Crestview and Lincolnview – were in action Tuesday night, and all three suffered non-conference losses.

Paulding 56 Van Wert 49

Chelsei Giesige scored 23 points to lead Paulding over Van Wert 56-49 on Tuesday night.

Kyra Welch and Jaylyn Rickard each scored six points in the first quarter and Van Wert led 16-12 at the end of the period. However, Paulding took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the hosts 15-6 for a 27-22 halftime lead, with Giesige and Janae Pease each scoring four points in the second stanza.

Each team netted 12 points in the third quarter, then Paulding (12-3) won the fourth quarter scoring battle 15-10, including a perfect 8 of 8 performance from the foul line. Giesige scored seven points in the period and Pease added six of her 13 points, all from the free throw line.

Rickard finished with a team high 12 points, while Welch added 10. Jamison Clouse and Caylee Phillips each added six points for Van Wert (3-10).

Paulding will travel to Allen East on Thursday, while the Lady Cougars will host Ottawa-Glandorf the same night. Active and veteran military members will be admitted free of charge and will be honored before the playing of the National Anthem at Van Wert High School.

Coldwater 39 Crestview 38 (OT)

COLDWATER — Lexi Gregory scored 19 points, but the Lady Knights dropped a tough 39-38 overtime loss to Coldwater on Tuesday.

The Lady Cavaliers led 11-8 after one quarter, but Crestview clamped down defensively in the second quarter, allowing just three points on the way to a 17-14 halftime lead. The third quarter was low scoring, with the two teams combining for 12 points, with Crestview leading 24-19 entering the final period.

Coldwater was able to tie the game in the fourth quarter and force an extra session for the win.

Annelise Harlament led Coldwater with 12 points and Lauren Gilliland added 10.

Both teams were 15 of 42 (36 percent) from the floor, including five treys by Crestview. However, the Lady Knights attempted just four foul shots all night, hitting three, compared to 8 of 14 by Coldwater. The Lady Cavaliers held a 37-20 rebounding advantage.

Crestview (6-7) will play at Delphos Jefferson on Thursday.

Antwerp 47 Lincolnview 38

ANTWERP — Lincolnview was unable to overcome a 17-point halftime deficit and fell to Antwerp 47-38 on Tuesday.

Antwerp led 11-8 after one quarter, but the Lady Archers outscored the visitors 16-2 in the second period for a 27-10 halftime lead. The Lady Lancers did enjoy a strong third quarter and a 16-7 scoring advantage.

Jordan Decker led Lincolnview with 11 points and seven rebounds, and Kendall Bollenbacher and Zadria King each added nine points. As a team, the Lady Lancers shot 15 of 48 (31 percent) from the floor and 6 of 9 from the foul line, to go along with 26 rebounds.

Antwerp’s Astinanna Coppes led all scorers with 14 points, while Karsyn Brumett finished with 11 points. Heather Oberlin and Tiera Gomez added nine and seven points respectively. The Lady Archers finished with 23 rebounds and went 17 of 37 (46 percent) from the floor, along with 13 of 23 from the free throw line.

Lincolnview (0-13) will travel to Bluffton on Thursday and Antwerp (6-6) will play at Ayersville on Friday.
