The Knights knocked down four treys in the opening quarter – two by Kalen Etzler and one each by JJ Ward and Nathan Lichtle – and Crestview led 16-14 at the end of the period.

Fort Jennings tied the game 22-22 with about three minutes left until halftime, but Crestview ended the second quarter with 12-0 run to lead 34-22 at the break. Carson Kreischer scored six of his eight points in the quarter.

“We did a really good job of stringing together some stops and we were able to get out in transition a little, and we also did a good job of executing a few sets to finish the first half,” Crestview head coach Doug Etzler said.

Crestview clamped down in the second half, holding the Musketeers to just six points in the third quarter and eight in the fourth. Meanwhile, Etzler hit two more triples in the third and a pair of baskets in the final period. He finished with a game high 21 points and 10 rebounds. Michael Joseph scored all five of his points in the fourth quarter by hitting a trey and a pair of foul shots.

“In the second half I thought we did a good job defensively to make their possessions tough and then did a good job of moving the ball at the offensive end to get some really good looks,” Etzler said. “Everyone contributed tonight and we did a really good job of sharing the ball.”

Brody Brecht had a steady game for the Knights, finishing with 10 points.

Fort Jennings had two players finish in double figures. Zach Schulte led the way with 13 points, including 10 in the first half, while Evan Hoersten scored eight of his 10 points in the second half.

Fort Jennings will host Ayersville on Friday and will play at Lincolnview on Saturday, while Crestview will host Bluffton on Friday.
