Community Days highlights announced

CONVOY — The Convoy Community Days festival will be celebrated Friday and Saturday, July 13-14, with events in downtown Convoy, the village parking lot, and at Edgewood Park.

Highlights of the festival are as follows:

Friday, July 13

Partying in the Parking Lot – Friday, July 13, from 8 p.m.-midnight, in the village parking lot, Twist & Shout Entertainment will be providing entertainment for the evening. A beer tent will be open.

Saturday, July 14

All Star Boys and All Star Girls ball games will be held, beginning at 11 a.m. at the park. The boys will have a home run derby between games. A concession stand will be open, with proceeds to defer the cost of replacing the doors on the concession stand. Thanks to Convoy Sports Center for a great summer of youth baseball and softball.
Fire Department Truck & Equipment Demonstrations — From 9 to 11 a.m., the Convoy Fire Department will conduct equipment and truck displays, a Safety House, and, at 9 a.m., a Lutheran Air helicopter will land.

Kids inflatables will be in the park, starting at 9 a.m.

2018 Convoy Community Days Parade — Grand Marshal will be Vicki Saylor, retired village clerk with 28 years of service. The parade theme is “Edgewood Park … Building Our Community”, and the parade line-up will begin at 3 p.m. in the Crestview Local Schools parking lot. The parade at begin at 4 p.m. and proceed down East Tully Street, then turn north on Main Street to Edgewood Park. Registration forms are available at the post office, on the village website (www.villageofconvoy.com), or at the village office.

2018 Car Show — Will be held at 5 p.m. in downtown Convoy. Registration at McCoy Automotive. There will be a $15 entry fee ($10 for those who participate in the parade). The show will also feature door prizes, music, CJ’s Ice, and food. For more information, contact Taylor McCoy or Val Hunt.

Lions Club Bingo — Convoy Lions Club is active in the community, co-sponsoring Convoy Community Days, building ramps for those in need, collecting eye glasses for the less fortunate, providing Crestview scholarships, and supporting the Convoy community in many more ways. The club will sponsor bingo Saturday, July 14, from 7-9 p.m., in the Edgewood Park Building.

Two other events will be held later in July in Convoy.

A MICHINDOH Truck/Tractor Pull will be held on the Edgewood Park track on Friday July 20. Weigh-in will be at 5 p.m. and the event will begin at 7 p.m. General admission cost is $5, while kids 10 years old and under get in free. A pit pass is $10. Sponsor of the event is No Coolers. KOI Truck Drag Racing — On Saturday, July 21, Convoy will host the third annual Dirt Drag Races. Everything from ATVs to trucks and anything in between can participate. KOI will run the lights and the classes so visit its website for more information. There will be food, beer, and soft drinks for sale. Practice will start at 5 p.m. and racing at 7 that evening. General admission is $5, while kids 10 years and under get in free. A pit pass is $10. For more information, contact Brent Wein.
