Lois Evelyn Lippi

Lois Evelyn Lippi, 96, passed away at 8:22 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born November 8, 1921, in Van Wert, a daughter of Dewey and Mary (Ladd) Gillespie, who both preceded her in death. On January 12, 1938, she married Albert John Lippi, who is also deceased.

Survivors include her children, Rita (Earl) Nye, John (Karen) Lippi, Tony (Jo Ann) Lippi, Michael (Shirley) Lippi, Christina Wall, Steve (Donna) Lippi, Kathleen (David) Neiferd, Angie (David) Foreman, Juliana Lippi, Korina (Jason) Graham, Mark Lippi, Evangeline Marie Lucas, Melinda “Mindy” Longwell, and Shawne (Bill) Bogle; more than 120 grandchildren;, 70 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters; Mary Alice (Owen) Rank, Betty (Gale) Sherer, Peggy (David) Hiller, Patty (Raymond) VanWynsbergh.

Two daughters, Carmensita (John) Michael and Cynthia (Les) Decker; and two brothers, Ralph Dewey (Ruth Ellen) Gillespie and Kenneth (Charlotte) Gillespie, also preceded her in death.

Lois was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 178 in Van Wert.

Lois enjoyed supporting multiple missions, especially the Our Lady of the Snows Missionary Oblates, for many years. She hand-crafted over 40,000 crocheted coasters and crocheted decorations, including angels, crosses, and snowflakes, which were sold with all proceeds going to the missions.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, at St. Mary of The Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Stan Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. 

There will be no visitation.

Preferred memorials: Our Lady of the Snows Missionary Oblates in Bellville, Illinois.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
