Van Wert 6 Delphos St. John’s 3

Van Wert scored three runs in the first inning then added two more in the second and cruised to a 6-3 win over Delphos St. John’s on Friday.

Jake Lautzenheiser opened the scoring by crossing home plate on an error, one of five committed by the Blue Jays. With two outs in the top of the first, Josh Halker knocked in McCracken, then Halker scored on a single by Ryan Pratt.

A sacrifice fly by McCracken scored Jacob Place and increased Van Wert’s lead to 4-0 in the second, then with two outs, Lennon Bartley crossed home plate on an error.

The visiting Cougars (7-3) scored their final run of the game in the fourth when Halker hit a sacrifice fly that scored McCracken.

The Blue Jays scored all three of their runs in the sixth.

Lautzenheiser led Van Wert with two hits, while McCracken had two RBI and two runs scored. Halker finished with a pair of RBI, and he pitched all seven innings and held the Blue Jays to five hits, while striking out seven and walking five.

Van Wert will return to action Monday at Ottawa-Glandorf.

Lincolnview 11 Columbus Grove 10

The Lancers rallied from a 7-1 deficit to defeat the visiting Bulldogs 11-10 on Friday.

Trailing by six runs, Lincolnview scored two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, then plated four more in the bottom of the sixth.

Clayton Leeth led the Lancers with a pair of hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Braxton Fox had two hits and a run scored, and Carson Fox and Kyle Wallis each had an RBI.
Braxton Fox, who was one of three pitchers used by Lincolnview, was given credit for the win.

The Lancers will play at Delphos Jefferson on Monday.
