Arthur L. Shook

Arthur L. “Art” Shook, 89, of Van Wert, died at 5:22 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born December 1, 1926, in Van Wert, the son of William J. and Anna K. (Rose) Shook, who both preceded him in death. On June 27, 1947, he married the former Betty J. Tangeman, who survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Karan Ann (James) Ottenweller of Convoy; and two sisters, Mary Louise Donaldson and Joan Gardner, both of Van Wert.

A sister, Edith August; and three half-brothers, Wilber, Loyal and Clovis Shook, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. William C. Haggis officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County, where military honors will be rendered by combined units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Monday, February 1, and an hour prior to services on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
