4-H Clever Clovers meet

By Ali Gemmer

The Clever Clovers had their third meeting on March 16 at Grace Bible Church from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The meeting began with a group activity and was then called to order by Erin Richardson. Caroline Kopack led the 4-H pledge and Erin Richardson, substituting for Erin Gemmer, gave the Treasure’s Report.  At the meeting, new member Kasee Stoller was introduced.  A Health and Safety Report was not given.  Rachel Spath gave a Service Project Report and Hannah Bartley gave keys to a good Demonstration along with passing out a Demonstration outline. Then the group began their second Agricultural Activity over Soy Lecithin. The members learned that Soy Lecithin is in many foods, what it is, what it does, and then did an experiment to further their knowledge of how Soy Lecithin works. The meeting was adjourned and the members had snacks.

The next meeting was a service project that took place on March 19.  The Clever Clovers’ Service Project took place at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at 4:45 p.m. Members from the club went to the church and helped put together bags for the Blessings in a Backpack program along with senior volunteers and adult volunteers in an assembly line. The bags were put into bins that were organized into schools, classes, and grades of the students using the bags. Adults and seniors who volunteered to take them delivered all of the bins to the schools. The Blessings in a Backpack program is exactly its name. Volunteers get together and supply food in bags or backpacks and give it students who sign up for the program and help them eat better throughout the rest of the school year.
