Van Wert Chapter of The Order of DeMolay cordially invites the public to attend the semi-annual installation of officers to be held this Sunday, January 11. Incoming Master Councilor Nick White is excited to welcome all DeMolays, their families, friends, and all who are interested in, or support, DeMolay.

The ceremony begins at 5 p.m. at the Masonic Center, located at 148½ E. Main St. (above Mengerink’s Source for Sports). An elevator is available for those who need it. There will be refreshments immediately following the ceremony.

DeMolay logo 6-2014The Van Wert Chapter of DeMolay is concluding a very productive term that was presided over by Master Councilor Cade Chiles. Highlights of the term have been a trip to Cedar Point, an educational scavenger hunt, a trip to Kalahari Resort, the annual state conclave, where Van Wert resident AJ Thomas was elected to serve as state master councilor, a swimming party, welcoming 12 new members into the chapter, the annual Christmas party, the purchase and installation of a giant screen video projector, a bowling event, community service projects with Main Street Van Wert and Wassenberg Art Center, several productive fundraisers, participation at the Van Wert County Fair, an exciting Inspection, and a fun day at the Fort Wayne Tin Caps and go-carting-and Putt Putt golf.

“With so many events going on, it is hard for a member to attend everything,” said Chapter Advisor Dr. Kevin Laing, “and Cade has done an exceptional job putting so many fun projects together.”

“We are looking to incoming MC White to continue to inspire the chapter to even greater heights,” said Kevin Weisman, chairman of the DeMolay Advisory Council.

Anyone who is interested in discovering what DeMolay is about should attend the installation of officers. DeMolay is a worldwide fraternity focused on teaching leadership skills, serving the community, and preparing young men to live well rounded and fulfilling lives.

The local chapter is proud of its history of service, providing thousands of dollars of scholarships to its members, producing several leaders that have served at the state and international level, receiving commendations from several local institutions, as well as Van Wert City Council, and offered amazing opportunities for its members to meet fellow DeMolays from across the state and the world.

Those who cannot attend the installation, but want further information about DeMolay and how to become a member of this dynamic organization, can contact Dr. Laing at 419.238.9980 or White at 419.605.7682.
