1st-graders learn to be Safe and Secure

Submitted information

Carey Partin recently completed the spring session of Safe and Secure for area first graders.  Partin taught first-graders at Van Wert Elementary School about “Stranger Safety”, “Rules”, “Safe Touches”, “Safety at Play”, “Bullying”, “Bicycle Safety” and “Taste Only What’s Safe”.

Safe and Secure is a six-week program taught to area first=graders to assist them in learning and practicing safety. Each half-hour session is designed in a way that this age group can easily understand and learn.

A fall session will be presented to any area first-grade classes interested in receiving this program.  Buckeye Y Youth Inc. is a United Way Agency and a Van Wert County Foundation grant recipient.
