Early voting for primary begins Tuesday

The Van Wert County Board of Elections announces that early voting for the May 6 Primary Election will begin Tuesday, April 1, and end at noon on Saturday, May 3.

Voting will be done in the commissioners’ conference room, located next door to the Election Board (120 E. Main St.). Effective April 1, there will be new office hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The only Saturday that the Board of Elections office will be open for voting will be May 3, from 8 a.m. to noon.

To vote an early ballot, residents must be a registered voter and provide either the last four digits of their social security number or driver’s license number (XX123456).  If neither of these items is available, a copy of a current and valid photo ID (state ID card, government ID, etc.) may be used (photo ID must show the name and address of the voter) or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government document that shows the voter’s name and current address.

Ballots may be sent by mailing a signed request to the office (120 E. Main St. in Van Wert), along with date of birth, driver’s license number (XX123456) or last four numbers of the individual’s social security number, and an address where the ballot may be sent.
