Charles Wayne Miller

Charles Wayne Miller, 72, of Ocala, Fla., and formerly of Grover Hill, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at the Legacy House in Ocala.

He was born January 17, 1940, in Grover Hill, the son of Barbara A. (Funk) Miller, who survives in Lady Lake, Fla., and the late Charles “Willie” Miller. On April 5, 1980, in Kirksville, Mo., he married Donna (Nichols) Miller, who survives in Ocala.

Other survivors include his son, Collin Wayne (Brittany) Miller of Biloxi, Miss.; a stepdaughter, Saricca (Jason) Taunton of Gulf Port, Miss.; a grandson, Christian Ashford of Gulf Port, Miss.; one brother, Duane Kent (Gloria) Miller of The Villages, Fla.; and a sister, Marlene (Doug) Foss of Ohio City.

His father-in-law, Dale Nichols; a brother, Kevin N. Miller; one brother-in-law, Jim Yahn; and a niece, Victoria Yahn, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Miller was a clinical laboratory administrative director with Tenet Health Care working in Kirksville, Mo., and New Orleans, La. He moved to Gulf Port, Miss., taking a job as laboratory manager in the hospital there until he retired. He was in the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corps, retiring as a sergeant major (E-9) after 24 years of service. He was a member of the former Grover Hill Church of Christ and belonged to the Masons, Shriners, Lions Club and volunteered for the American Red Cross. He loved hunting, fishing and antique cars.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 29, at Roberts Funeral Home West Chapel, 6241 SW 200, Ocala, Fla.

There will be no visitation.
