Shirley J. DeLong

Shirley J. DeLong, 77, of Delphos, died at 11:27 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

She was born January 31, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Grover and Vincenta (Trakas) Hall. In June 1968, she married Irvin D. DeLong, who preceded her in death on November 14, 2009.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry (Donna) Sampson of Reynoldsburg, Charles “Mike” (Kristine) Sampson of Suwanee, Ga., and Gregory Sampson of Miller Beach, Ind.; a daughter, Jenelle (Scott) Aldrich of Delphos; two brothers, Allan (Mary Lee) Hall of Lima and Grover “Butch” (Pat Covelt) Hall of Centennial, Colo.; a stepbrother, Glen (Elizabeth) Eley of Lima; two stepsisters, Carol Ann Haines of Columbus Grove and Linda (Rick) Hackworth of Lima; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A brother, Gary Hall; one sister, Rosanna (Paul) Wolfe; and a stepbrother, Charles Eley, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, August 3, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, with the Rev. Angela T. Khabeb officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 2, at the funeral home.
