Robert L. Zinsmaster

Robert L. Zinsmaster, 85, of Van Wert, died at 2:49 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born July 11, 1926, in Van Wert, the son of the late Homer H. and Elizabeth (Agler) Zinsmaster.

Mr. Zinsmaster retired from Conrail after 39 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.

He was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Army and was a member of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Survivors include two children, Randy (Denise) Zinsmaster of Cookeville, Tenn., and Robin (Chiew Eng) Zinsmaster of Santa Rosa, Calif.; four sisters, Nancy Crawford of Van Wert, Judy (Les) Kuhlman of Rochester, Pa., Shirley (Charles) Stephenson of New Concord and Betty Sue (Roger) Reasoner of Fort Wayne; and six grandchildren, Philip, Skylar, Bryan, Rachel, Logan and Lucas.

Two sisters, Carroll Tomlinson and Lois Koester, also preceded him in death.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

There will be no calling hours.

Preferred memorials: St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
