VWHS bands to perform in NPAC

VWHS Music Dept. information

This evening, the Van Wert High School Concert and Symphony bands will present their annual Spring Concert. The concert will be held in the Saltzgaber Music Hall of the Niswonger Performing Arts Center and begin at 7:30 p.m. This concert is free.

Music for this concert will be a combination of music for the upcoming state contest, as well as lighter popular selections. The Concert Band will open the show with four pieces that include “Adrenaline Engines”, as well as “Fanfare, Ode and Festival” and “Bonds of Unity”. The band will complete its portion with a medley of popular songs from the 1970s called (what else) “The Seventies”.

The Symphony Band will follow with its four pieces, which include “The Lambs’ March”, “Grant Them Eternal Rest”, and “Invocation and Psalm”. The band will complete its portion of the program with highlights from the movie The Cowboys by John Williams.

In addition, “Grant Them Eternal Rest” will be accompanied by a light show designed by junior Matt Saunier.

This concert is presented partially in anticipation of the upcoming OMEA State Contest to be held May 4-5 at Findlay High School. For more information contact the VWHS music office at 419.238.3722 or visit the band website at www.vanwertbands.org.
