Lancer 9 downs Fort Jennings squad

FORT JENNINGS — The Lincolnview Lancer baseball team downed Fort Jennings 7-2 in a non-league game played Thursday at Fort Jennings.

The Musketeers scored first with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but Lincolnview went ahead 2-1 in the top of the third. Although Fort Jennings tied it up at 2-all in their half of the third, that was the last run the Musketeers would score. Lincolnview added a run in the fifth and four in the sixth to put the game on ice.

The Lancers had 13 hits in the game, to four for Fort Jennings, but also had three errors, versus one for the Musketeers.

Clayton Longstreth was the winning pitcher for the Lancers, going six innings and striking out five, while also walking seven. He is now 1-0 on the year. Eli Farmer earned a save by closing out the game in the seventh, while striking out one and walking none.

Longstreth also helped his pitching efforts at the plate, with three RBI, while Nick Leeth had two RBI in the game, and Kyle Williams and Dalton Kayser had one RBI apiece.

Leeth, Longstreth, Brady Niese and Conner McCleery also had more than one hit in the game.

With the win, the Lancers are now 2-1 on the year.
