Soccer camp set for kids in grades K-2

Third and fourth grade students in Kathy Thompson and Nicole Early's classrooms at Lincolnview Elementary created "book floats" to represent picture books they read individually. The books were purchased with grant money from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation. (Photo submitted.)

Attention all students currently in Kindergarten, First and Second Grades: Beginning in March there will be a “Lancer All-Stars” soccer camp for all students that are interested in learning the fundamentals of soccer.

This clinic is open to boys and girls and is intended to give the player basic and advanced soccer concepts. Emphasis will be placed on individual play within a fun environment. Players will enjoy many fun games but will also be given the techniques needed to improve their play. There will be a 30 minute scrimmage at the end of every practice. Fundamental practices will begin on Saturday, March 31 and will run through Saturday, May 19. We will be practicing from 2:30-4 p.m. at Rotary Park Soccer Field on John Brown Road in Van Wert. A $15 fee is required. Checks should be made payable to Edward Ditmyer.

Also, for those interested, we will sign up our own “teams” for the Van Wert Upward Soccer Program and Van Wert YMCA Soccer Program. This is a building block for our fall program. Any questions, please contact Ed Ditmyer at 419.910.1824. Sign-up papers can be picked up in the Lincolnview Elementary office.

The Guidance Office would like to share the following information:
1. March 5 there will be a Dual Enrollment Meeting at 6:15 and a Post Secondary Meeting at 7 in the Lecture hall.
2. On March 20 sophomore parents are invited to attend a meeting to go over their child’s PLAN results, college planning and course selection.
3. Scheduling papers will be coming home soon.  Parents must sign the registration form before students will be allowed to turn in their form.  Please be watching for this to come home.
This year’s junior high yearbook is on sale the rest of this week for $16.50.  This book captures everything jr. high related from this school year inside a 36-page color soft cover edition. Reserve your copy today by sending a check or cash to school with your child! Checks should be made out to Lincolnview Local Schools and should be given to Mrs. Sheets. Books will be delivered at the start of next school year.

The first graders at Lincolnview Elementary enjoyed a beach party to conclude their month-long study of the ocean. The students got to participate in special beach/ocean themed centers, as well as having beach cupcakes for a snack. Pictured above is Mrs. Gerdeman's first-grade class, in beach attire.
