YMCA has new Wellness Dept. directors

The YMCA of Van Wert County is pleased to announce Julie Schaufelberger and Kristin Lichtensteiger as the new directors of the Wellness Department.

Schaufelberger has a Bachelor of Science in physical education from The Ohio State University, is a certified personal trainer and holds certifications in strength and conditioning, healthy lifestyle principles and group fitness/training. She is also trained in kettle bell workouts, kickboxing, core strength, insanity, boot camp and cycling.

Although Schaufelberger is new in the leadership role of the department, she has been with the Y for a little over a year as a personal trainer. In this new leadership role, she will have a primary focus on the internal fitness/wellness elements of the Y and its membership.

Lichtensteiger has a Bachelor of Science in exercise science and nutrition, is a certified personal trainer and has worked the past three years in Fort Wayne as an exercise physiologist. She also specializes in developing training programs for the post rehab exercise, sport team training, aqua fit training, foundation and core training and corporate wellness plans.

Lichtensteiger will have a primary focus on developing external fitness/wellness programs, including working with physician’s offices, sports team training, corporate wellness and overseeing the further development of funding diversity efforts.

“We are excited to have both Kristin and Julie join the YMCA staff,” said YMCA Executive Director Hugh Kocab. “We feel their joint leadership efforts in the Wellness Department will help us reach our goals of both internal wellness development and community outreach.”
