Softball: Lady Lancers fall to Paulding

Van Wert independent sports

Lincolnview held a 6-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning, but visiting Paulding scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning and five more in the sixth to defeat the Lady Lancers 12-7 on Wednesday.

The game was scheduled to be played at Paulding, but it was switched to Lincolnview because of unplayable field conditions.

Winter Boroff drove in Lakin Brant, Kendall Bollenbacher scored on a grounder by Carly Wendel, then Zadria King’s RBI single scored Boroff for a 3-0 lead to start the game.

Paulding scored a run in the bottom of the first, but Bollenbacher’s second inning single to left field plated Annie Mendenhall and Brant.

Lincolnview added a run in the fifth when Wendel scored on a single by Andi Webb. One more run came in the seventh, when Wendel crossed home plate on a grounder by Tori Boyd.

Webb had a team high three hits, while Brant and Bollenbacher each had two.

The Lady Lancers (15-7, 4-4 NWC) will face Crestview in the Division IV district finals at 5 p.m. today at Dorothy Edwards Field in Elida. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but was changed due to the threat of rain.
