Fort Jennings slips past Crestview

FORT JENNINGS – The Lady Musketeers of Fort Jennings used a 15-8 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to rally past visiting Crestview 45-43 on Monday.

The Lady Knights led 35-30 entering the final period, but Kayleigh Klir hit two triples and Kristen Luersman scored five points to lead the fourth quarter comeback. Luersman finished with a game high 19 points, while Klir scored 12 points, all on three pointers in the second half.

“We had several good looks in the fourth quarter and just couldn’t finish down the stretch,” Crestview head coach Mark Gregory said. “They had a nice mix of inside and out.”

Crestview enjoyed an 11-7 lead after the first quarter and a 20-16 lead at halftime. Behind seven third quarter points by Lexi Gregory and six more by Bailey Gregory, the Lady Knights led 35-30 entering the fourth quarter. Lexi Gregory went on to finish with a team high 18 points, while Bailey Gregory tallied eight points.

The Lady Knights (2-4) will play at Allen East on Thursday.
