Group deals with effects of drug addiction

VW independent/submitted information

HELP is a local community-based support group focused on friends and families struggling with the devastating effects of addiction. While there are many programs for addicts, rarer are support groups for friends and families. No longer is that the case for the Paulding, Mercer, and Van Wert county area.

The heart of HELP is to provide a safe, encouraging, enlightening, edifying, and educating place for those whose friends and family members are caught in the destructive cycle of addiction.

HELP is one of the five focuses of New Hope Recovery. People can live weeks without food, days without water, minutes without air, but no one can survive very long without hope. The support team of HELP is there to facilitate help, healing, and hope for a better tomorrow.

HELP will be scheduling an information time at Hope Chapel, 9010 Van Wert Willshire Road (corner of Van Vert Willshire and Richey roads), at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17.

For more information and to pre-register, contact Pastor Paul Hamrick at 419.771.9378 or email

The mission of HELP is to bring hope for tomorrow, encouragement for today, to learn healthy boundaries, and, finally, a peace that will guard people’s hearts and minds.
