Alan F. Simon

Alan F. Simon, 74, of Rockford, died unexpectedly at 5:44 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018, in the emergency room of Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.

He was born November 21, 1943, in Van Wert, the son of William and Gladys (Krugh) Simon, who both preceded him in death. On September 2, 1987, he married the former Chris Waldo, who survives in Rockford.

Other survivors include a son, Walter P. (Stephanie Wilson) Simon of Rockford; three daughters, Jenifer (Stephen) Smith of Celina, Andrea Simon of Orlando, Florida, and Judie Cochiolo of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two stepdaughters, Michele (Hans) Snyder of Las Alamos, New Mexico, and Tiffany (Marc) Grimm of Celina;  four grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Leslie) Simon of Ohio City; and a sister, Linda Shupe of Van Wert.

A brother-in-law, David Shupe, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 26, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Shawn Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford. 

Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 25, and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
