C’view controls second half vs. Wayne Trace

CONVOY — Crestview trailed visiting Wayne Trace 30-28 at halftime, but put up 44 second half points to win Saturday’s non-conference rivalry game 72-42 at Ray Etzler Gymnasium on Saturday night.

The Knights led 13-12 after one quarter, Wayne Trace enjoyed an 18-15 scoring edge in the second period. The Knights outscored the Raiders 25-6 in the third quarter and 19-6 in the fourth period.

Crestview’s Javin Etzler led all scorers with 23 points, while Drew Kline added 15 and Derek Stout 11. Derick Dealey had eight and Jace Vining finished with seven points. Etzler also had eight rebounds and Stout had seven, and Kline finished with eight assists and five rebounds.

Eli Sinn led Wayne Trace with 12 points and Josiah Linder chipped in with 11. Jake Kuhn had eight points and John Kuhn finished with five for the Raiders.

As a team, Crestview was 25 of 49 (51 percent) from the floor and 12 of 16 (75 percent) from the foul line. Wayne Trace was 15 of 44 (31 percent) from the floor and 9 of 14 from the free throw line. The Knights enjoyed a 31-21 rebounding advantage and both teams committed 11 turnovers.

Crestview (16-3, 6-0 NWC) has won 12 consecutive games and can clinch at least a share of the Northwest Conference title with a win at home over Spencerville on Friday night.

Wayne Trace (16-4, 5-1 GMC) will return to Green Meadows Conference play Friday night at Tinora.
